# Data view

Review and edit the electrical hierarchy in a table.

A flat, indented table of the full electrical hierarchy — Source → Distribution Board → Panelboard → Space — for scanning and bulk review. The hierarchy is shown through indentation and row shading, not nested rows.

> 📸 **Screenshot — Electrical data grid** The electrical Data view with rows at each level (source, distribution, panelboard, spaces) indented to show the hierarchy, and the columns visible: Name, Type, Floor Area, Voltage, Load Density, Special Loads, Total Connected Load, Estimated Size.

## Activating

With **Electrical** selected in the discipline switcher, select **Data** in the view switcher in the top nav bar.

## Columns

| Column | Applies to | Notes |
| -------------------- | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Name | All levels | A space row with any density overridden from its space-type default shows a **Modified** badge; a space with no type shows "(not set)" in muted italic |
| Type | All levels | Equipment type / space type |
| Floor Area | All levels | Aggregated upward from spaces |
| Voltage | Panelboard and above | Drives the size estimate |
| Load Density | Space rows | Combined lighting + receptacle + miscellaneous density |
| Special Loads | Space rows | Discrete (W) equipment loads |
| Total Connected Load | All levels | Raw rollup above Space; calculated at Space |
| Estimated Size | Panelboard and above | Calculated (Amps) — there is no engineer-input demand factor |

Per-category density inputs (Lighting / Receptacle / Miscellaneous W/ft²) are edited in the **right detail pane** for a selected space, not as separate grid columns — see [Hierarchy and Equipment](/workflows/electrical-planning/hierarchy-and-equipment.md).

## Creating items

Create and group items from the [action bar](/workflows/workspace/canvas-view.md#the-action-bar) at the bottom of the design environment: **Add Space** (`S`), **Add Branch** (`B`), **Add Distribution** (`D`), **Add Source** (`O`), and **Import Spaces From File** (`I`). With a compatible selection, the create buttons become **Group into Branch / Distribution / Source**.

When you create a new space, Strata reveals the detail panel and focuses the **Space Type** dropdown so you can classify it immediately.

***

## Editing

Select a row to edit its fields inline. Editable fields depend on level; all four levels — Space, Branch, Distribution, and Source — appear in the grid. Per-category density inputs are edited in the right detail pane (see below).

***

## Importing

Import from File (CSV or Excel) works for electrical spaces the same way as mechanical, including the overwrite behavior. See [Data View → Importing](/workflows/mechanical-planning/data-view.md#importing-spaces-from-csv-or-excel).

***

## Exporting

**File → Export → Grid Data** downloads the current discipline's tabular data as a structured file — independent of the formatted equipment schedule. See [Electrical Equipment Schedule](/reference/exports/electrical-equipment-schedule.md) for the deliverable version.
