# Collaborate

Manage project access and work alongside teammates in real time.

More than one person can work in a project. Project Strata shows who else is present and keeps everyone on the same data.

***

## Who has access

Access is granted per project by that project's admins. Being able to log in to Project Strata does not mean you can see every project — you see the projects you've been added to.

* Admins add and remove users, and manage settings, in **Project Settings → Access**.
* Non-admins can work in a project but cannot change its settings or add users.

See [Project Settings](/workflows/projects/project-settings.md) for details, and [Logging In](/workflows/get-started/sign-in.md) for sign-in and access requests.

## Live presence

The **user presence** control at the right end of the top nav bar shows who is currently in the project — a small stack of avatars (you first).

* When more people are present than fit, a **+N** button appears; select it to open a flyout listing everyone in the project.
* Presence updates live as people enter and leave the project, whichever view they're in.
* Opening the same project in more than one tab doesn't make you appear twice.

## Working at the same time

Project Strata saves your work to a shared project backbone, so what you change is what your colleagues see. A few things to keep in mind when others are in the same project:

* Edits are saved as you go — there's no separate "save" step in the design environment.
* You may see notifications reflecting others' changes (for example, when a space is moved between zones).
* Coordinate on who owns which floor or system area to avoid editing the same items at once.

> Presence tells you who is in the project, not what they're doing. Strata doesn't show other people's cursors or update values on your screen as they type — reload if you need to be sure you're seeing someone else's latest work.
