# Create your first project

Create a project and complete its first setup steps in Strata.

Use this workflow to create a project and begin setting it up in Strata. Each step links to detailed guidance.

1. **Create the project.** Set the name, building type, location, size, and initial access. See [Creating a Project](/workflows/projects/create-a-project.md).
2. **Add a floor and spaces.** Upload a floor plan, then draw spaces or enter your space program. See [Floors](/workflows/workspace/floors.md) and [Spaces](/workflows/mechanical-planning/spaces.md).
3. **Build the system.** Group spaces into zones and sources, then configure the equipment. See [Mechanical Planning Overview](/workflows/mechanical-planning/mechanical-planning-overview.md).
4. **Export a deliverable.** Generate a schedule or plan overlay once the system is configured. See [Exports](/reference/exports/mechanical-equipment-schedule.md).
