# Navigate Project Strata

Find projects, switch views and disciplines, and navigate the design environment.

## Top-level structure

After login, you land on the **Projects** list. From there, all work flows through individual projects.

Project Strata has two top-level areas:

| Area               | URL                            | Purpose                               |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------- |
| Projects           | `/Projects/All`                | Browse, create, and manage projects   |
| Design environment | `/Projects/:id/SystemPlanning` | Where all project design work happens |

Admin users also have access to the Baseline Dashboard under `/Admin`.

## Projects list

The left sidebar (titled **Projects**) has four tabs:

* **All** — every project you have access to
* **Favorite** — starred projects
* **Recent** — the 10 most recently modified
* **Archived** — projects moved to archive

Below the tabs, the **Filter** panel lets you search by name (**Find Projects**), filter by **Building Type**, or narrow by a **Start Date** / **End Date** range. Date filters take effect as soon as you pick a day; select **Clear** to remove them. Sort the list using the **Project Name**, **Date Created**, and **Last Modified** column headers — select a header again to reverse the direction.

## Opening a project

Select a project tile to open it directly in the **design environment**.

## The design environment

The design environment is where all project work happens — the Canvas, Data, and Topology views for whichever discipline you're in.

## The top nav bar

Most navigation in the design environment lives in the **top nav bar**, left to right:

* **Hamburger menu (≡)** — File, Edit, View, Help, theme, and Log Out (see below)
* **Project switcher** — jump to another project (**Recents**, **All projects**, **Create New Project**) without returning to the dashboard
* **View switcher** — toggle between **Canvas**, **Data**, and **Topology**; the active view is labelled
* **Project summary** (info icon) — whole-project figures, currently total square footage
* **Overlay views** (eye icon) — toggle on-canvas overlays; the set depends on the discipline (Mechanical: Zone Map, Source Map; Electrical: Branch Map, Distribution Map, Source Map; Plumbing: none yet). The button stays highlighted while any overlay is on.
* **Discipline switcher** — **Mechanical**, **Electrical**, or **Plumbing**
* **Floor switcher** — change the active floor, and add, edit, or delete floors

**User presence** sits at the far right — avatars of others currently in the project (see [Collaboration](/workflows/get-started/collaborate.md)).

### The three views

Switch between the three views with the **view switcher** in the top nav bar:

* **Canvas** — draw spaces on the floor plan
* **Data** — tabular entry
* **Topology** — system topology diagram

The Canvas and Data views stay in sync — changes made in one appear in the other.

### Discipline selector

The discipline switcher toggles between **Mechanical**, **Electrical**, and **Plumbing**. It defaults to your assigned discipline when a project opens. Switching disciplines loads the corresponding hierarchy in the left panel and equipment on the canvas, and persists across the Canvas, Data, and Topology views. Each discipline keeps its own space list. Switching discipline clears the undo/redo history. ## Getting back to the project list

From the design environment, open the hamburger menu (≡) → **Go to Dashboard**.
